Spotted Gum Flooring in Perth, WA

Species: Eucalyptus maculata
Colour: Spotted Gum is more varied in colour than the timbers in the rest of our range, which has become one of its more attractive features. With colour tones ranging from creams and rich browns to browns with grey undertones.
Hardness: 11kN (30% tougher than Jarrah). Very high durability against heavy traffic and great for active families.
Origin: Spotted gum grows naturally in the forests of Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria. It has been introduced here in Western Australian as well as South Australia, but the timber that Lifewood uses is sourced from the mid-north coast of NSW.
History: Due to its hard-wearing nature, spotted gum was used heavily for shipbuilding, construction, agricultural machinery and – of course – flooring.
